Power Apps Consulting & Development

Alphabyte is a Power Apps consulting firm. We design and build custom business apps on Microsoft Power Apps, connect them to your data and automate the steps around them with Power Automate, so your team can replace spreadsheets, email approvals and paper forms with apps that fit how you work.

We plan, build, test and support each app, then train your team so it can run and extend what we deliver.

What We Do

Power Apps consulting services for organizations that need custom apps built quickly and securely on their existing Microsoft data.

Power Apps is Microsoft's low-code tool for building business apps, and part of the Microsoft Power Platform alongside Power Automate and Power BI. Apps run in a browser and on phones and tablets, and connect to SharePoint, Dataverse and many other data sources. Low-code makes the first version fast, but data design, security and scale still need careful work.

That is where a Power Apps consultant helps. We plan the app around a real process, model the data, build the screens and logic, and add Power Automate flows for approvals and notifications. For structured business data we often use Dataverse. Our guide to Power Apps for enterprise explains the decisions involved in more detail.

Power Apps suits internal apps for teams already on Microsoft 365. When an app needs full control over design, performance or access for outside users, we build it with tools such as .NET or Node.js instead.

Our Approach

  • We start by agreeing on the process the app will support, the people who will use it and what a successful first release looks like. Scope, objectives, milestones and technology needs are written down. We also check whether Power Apps is the right fit, or whether a custom build would serve you better.

  • We create wireframes and prototypes so users can see and try the app before it is built. Screens are designed for usability and accessibility, and checked on the devices people will actually use, from desktop browsers to phones in the field. Feedback at this stage is quick and inexpensive to act on.

  • We define the tables, relationships and data sources the app will use, often in Dataverse or SharePoint, depending on volume, security and how the data is shared. Getting this right early keeps the app fast and makes reporting in Power BI straightforward later. Access rules are planned alongside the data model.

  • We build the user interface, connect the data and implement the business logic in Power Apps. Approvals, notifications and hand-offs between systems are automated with Power Automate. Work is shown to your team in short cycles, so the app grows in the direction users need and problems are found early.

  • We run unit, integration and user acceptance testing against real scenarios, with the people who will use the app every day. Permissions are tested role by role. Issues are fixed and retested before launch, so the first release works as intended for each type of user in your organization.

  • We move the app into production, roll it out to users and provide training and documentation suited to each role. Administrators learn how the app, its flows and its data fit together, so your team can make routine changes and add users without waiting on us for every small request.

  • After launch we can provide ongoing maintenance, including fixes, updates and new features delivered in small releases. We keep the app compatible with platform updates and changing business needs, and review performance and security as more users, data and connected systems are added over time.

Your Power Apps Consulting Team

Alphabyte is a Microsoft Solutions Partner, founded in 2015, that has served 100+ organizations. Our team combines app development, data engineering, reporting and cloud architecture, so an app, the data behind it and the reports built on it are designed together from the start.

We use Power Apps to deliver custom apps, internal portals, automated workflows and reporting. You own what we build. We document it, train your team and can stay on for support and new features after launch, or hand day-to-day changes to your own staff.

Our team holds Microsoft certifications including Power Platform Developer Associate, Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate and Power Platform App Maker Associate. See the full list on our certifications page.

We work with mid-market and enterprise organizations. Related services: custom software development, business process improvement and custom client portals.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Power Apps consulting is outside help to plan, design, build and support business apps on Microsoft Power Apps. It covers choosing the right processes to digitize, modelling the data, building screens and logic, setting up security and automating related steps with Power Automate. The aim is an app your team uses every day that stays reliable as more people and data are added.

  • A Power Apps consultant turns a manual process into a working app. That means mapping how the process runs today, designing screens with users, setting up the data in Dataverse, SharePoint or another source, writing the business logic and testing it with real users. At Alphabyte our consultants also train your team and document the app so it can be maintained.

  • Most organizations bring in Power Apps consultants when a process runs on spreadsheets, email approvals or paper forms and is starting to break. Other common reasons are an app built by a staff member that has become critical and hard to maintain, a need to connect several systems, or security and data questions that the team does not have time to work through.

  • Cost depends on the number of screens and user types, the data sources to connect, the complexity of the business rules and how much automation is needed around the app. Power Apps licence costs are billed separately by Microsoft. We scope each app with you before we start, and often recommend a focused first release that covers the most important workflow.

  • Power Apps suits internal apps for teams on Microsoft 365, where speed and low maintenance matter more than full design control. Custom development with tools such as .NET or Node.js suits client-facing apps, complex integrations or demanding performance needs. We build both and can help you choose.

  • A focused first app usually takes about 6 to 10 weeks, including planning, design, data modelling, development and testing. Simple apps can be quicker, and apps with many user types or integrations take longer. Larger solutions are delivered in releases, so your team starts using the most important features first while further features follow in small steps.

  • Power Platform consulting covers the wider Microsoft Power Platform, not just Power Apps. That includes Power Automate for workflows, Power BI for reporting and Dataverse for storing business data. A good consultant looks at how these tools fit together, so an app, its approval flows and its reports share one data model and one set of security rules.

  • Yes. Power Automate consulting is part of most of our app projects, and we also automate processes on their own. Typical work includes approval flows, notifications, document routing and moving data between systems. We design flows with error handling and clear ownership, so your team knows when something fails and who should fix it.

  • One in-house developer can be a good fit for steady work on a small number of apps. A consulting team covers planning, data modelling, security, automation and training as well as the build, which helps when an app connects several systems or needs to go live quickly. Some clients use us to set up the foundation and then hand ongoing work to internal staff.

  • Power Apps runs on Microsoft's cloud and uses your existing Microsoft sign-in, which gives you a strong starting point. Security still depends on how the app is built. We set up role-based access, separate environments for development and production, and data rules that control which connectors can be used, so each user only sees and changes what their role allows.
